OUR STORY

Born in Tokyo and raised on movie sets around the world, Koh Gen Do combines the planet’s most precious botanicals with Japanese skincare technology to nourish and protect your complexion’s natural ability to regenerate and thrive.

THE HERITAGE

In 1986, a celebrated Japanese actress became concerned about her stressed skin. Depleted from hours spent in heavy makeup each day, her skin lacked the fresh glow she craved. Inspired by her need and the deeply rooted skincare traditions of her country, she began work on a line of pure and healthy skincare designed to deliver radiant skin on and off-screen. Soon she extended the benefits of skincare into a color cosmetics line and our iconic, red-tubed Moisture Foundation was born.

THE BIG SCREEN

Over thirty years later, Koh Gen Do remains a favorite among professional makeup artists and can be found regularly on the sets of blockbuster movies. Our secret to success on screen and off is simple: healthy, dewy skin enriched with natural essences looks as fresh on camera as it does in life.

THE PHILOSOPHY

At the heart of Koh Gen Do is the belief that everything you apply on your skin should nurture its radiant vitality. Whether you’re using one of our cleansers or cult-favorite powders, every Koh Gen Do elixir nourishes and enhances the luminosity of your complexion. Our products enrich the skin’s natural healing abilities, leaving your complexion soft, firm, smooth and flourishing. Backed by cutting edge Japanese skincare technology and healing plant-based ingredients, our gentle formulations feed and repair skin for a fresh, dewy complexion that glows even without a single drop of makeup.

THE PRACTICE

Our private spa oasis in Tokyo is a peaceful haven for some of the world’s most elite clientele and the birthplace of each Koh Gen Do skincare ritual. Melding traditional Japanese practices with modern expertise, the spa tests each of our skincare products for its healing abilities. After thousands of treatments, we have curated the best soothing rituals to enhance your skin’s intrinsic elasticity, vitality and moisture.

THE INGREDIENTS

Trusting the wisdom of nature to work harmoniously with the skin’s natural processes, we rely on plant-based essences and breakthrough Japanese skincare technology to create formulas rich in soothing benefits. Rooted in the belief that everything you put on your skin should contribute to its health, we avoid artificial ingredients, fragrances, synthetic pigments and petroleum-based mineral oil.

HEALING BOTANICALS

To repair and renew skin, we developed T3 Oil, our proprietary blend of shea butter, jojoba oil and olive squalane. Rich in essential fatty acids and skin-identical properties, T3 Oil has been used in Koh Gen Do facial spas for years to restore skin's moisture and elasticity.

NUTRIENT-RICH WATER

Like the delicate lotus, skin depends on pristine moisture to thrive. Koh Gen Do sources the purest water and minerals from the planet’s untouched sources including Japan’s Izumo Yumura Hot Springs and France’s Sea of Bretagne. For sensitive skin, we rely on the soothing properties of white birch water to calm inflammation and restore skin’s essential moisture balance.

5FP CAPSULE

At the heart of healthy skin are 5 properties: Softness, Smoothness, Radiance, Firmness & Elasticity. To fight the damaging effects of environment, stress, aging and sun exposure we hand-selected 5 potent, pesticide-free Japanese plant extracts to create our 5FP Capsule. We encapsulated these 5 potent Japanese essences using an innovative, permeable membrane technology with a high affinity and skin-similar moisture structure. 5FP Capsule activates according to varying skin conditions and to pH levels, delivering the power of moisture and releasing treatment benefits as they are needed.

SHINHOJUN HAKKOH CONCENTRATE

Ultra-hydrating, double fermented elixir. Our skin’s ability to hold on to moisture becomes more difficult with age, climate stress and skin condition. Harsh products, too, can cause further damage and disrupt your skin’s natural moisture barrier. To support an ideal environment for skin to thrive in healthy hydration we blended centuries old tradition with modern day technology. Our Shinhojun Hakkoh Concentrate was created enlisting an Akita
