about us

2019

We were founded by three like-minded tech entrepreneurs committed to developing the global standard in smart eyewear. We set out to build the first smart eyewear product that works just like regular glasses, while helping you stay connected to your digital life. Our initial funding came from crowdfunding and Tekcapital plc, a UK investment firm that transforms university innovations into new products to improve quality of life. For much of 2019, our efforts were devoted solely to smart eyewear testing and development.

2020

After a year of rigorous research and development, we launched a notable beta product, Lucyd Loud 2020, a sport-style audio sunglass. Loud 2020 taught our team a lot about what was needed to build a successful, mainstream smart eyewear product. In 2020, we also launched an over-subscribed regulation crowdfund, attracting nearly 4,000 tech-loving investors to our company and raising over $1m from a grassroots campaign.

Additionally, smart eyewear can potentially help with pedestrian and driver safety by helping maintain situational awareness compared to using in-ear headphones

2021

Here is where our story takes off in earnest! In January 2021, we launched the Lucyd Lyte line, the first optical-quality smart frame on the market. Lyte represents a completely new standard in smart eyewear, of frames that look and feel like designer eyeglasses and sunglasses, but capable of so much more. We went on to delight thousands of customers with our frames and onboard over 180 optical stores in the US and Canada to carry Lucyd. See our store locator here! 
 

We donate one standard pair of glasses for every Lucyd frame sold at retail. Notable donation partners include New-Eyes for the Needy and the Miami Rescue Mission.
 

We offer an 18% discount to students, educators, healthcare providers, US uniformed service members and veterans. We enable our community to get involved with the brand and get paid for their support via two affiliate programs. All full-time staff are eligible to earn stock options in the company in their first year of employment.

2022

2022 was a huge year! We have been growing rapidly and have launched our IPO! Find us on the Nasdaq under ticker LUCY. The Robinhood app is an easy way to invest and follow the stock's progress. 

We have also introduced our boldest styles yet of Lucyd Lyte, including the Jupiter style, the world's lightest smart eyewear at just 28 grams. Additionally, we have launched our cordless charging dock to make charging our eyewear (and up to three other devices) easier than ever.

2023

2023 was our biggest year yet! We launched the Lucyd app, powering the first-ever voice interface for ChatGPT on our glasses in April. We went on to license three notable fashion brands for smart eyewear: Nautica, Eddie Bauer and Reebok. 

We plan to launch collections with all three of our new brands in 2024. We also sold more frames than ever before, as the Lucyd brand keeps growing and thrilling new customers the world over.

2024

This was a big year for Lucyd, seeing the launch of our first fashion-branded collections under Nautica and Eddie Bauer. 

The Eddie Bauer collection brought several elevated design elements, such as brushed titanium hardware, a rimless style and the Lucyd Dock included standard. We also launched our most popular product to-date, Lucyd Armor® smart safety glasses.

2025

2025 was the year of Lucyd X Reebok! We launched our exciting new sports line, Reebok Powered by Lucyd. 

We also went on to introduce four new versions of Lucyd Armor smart safety glasses. Some other improvements in 2025 include our Translation and Walkie features in the Lucyd app, bringing powerful new functionality to all Lucyd frames.
